The purpose of the unit is to reduce chronic an persistent crime problems; specifically street level narcotics dealing, street level prostitution and vehicular burglary and theft.  A sergeant, four detectives and a K9 detective comprise the unit. This unit works closely with two detectives in the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office and a detective in the Drug Enforcement Agency.
