INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES

The Investigative Services Bureau, commanded by Captain Brian Humm, complements the law enforcement efforts of the patrol districts and is charged with the responsibility to investigate crimes or incidents against persons that have been referred for latent investigation. The bureau is made up three sergeants, 15 detectives and 4 non-sworn personnel responsible for investigating all felony and vice related crimes within the city. The Crimes Against Property Squad, Crimes Against Persons Squad, the Crime Suppression Unit, Juvenile Diversion Program, Victim Assistant and Crime Scene Investigation, make up the divisions within the bureau.

Each detective assigned to the bureau handles between forty and fifty cases each month. Theses cases range from homicides, the most serious of all crimes, to a child reporting a theft of a bicycle.
