Construction Without a Permit

Inspection of a Completed Structure

This is clarification of an existing policy enforced by the City of Fort Pierce Building Development Department. There is no provision in the Florida Building Code regarding the inspection of a completed structure. When someone is cited for construction without a permit, a double permit fee will be imposed. If a stop-work order was issued, there is a $100 fee imposed as well.

Certified Design Drawings

Certified design drawings will need to accompany the permit application and a Certification of Completion must be attached which must be sealed by a Florida Registered architect or engineer. The Building Department will review the permit after the certification is received.

If you are unable to obtain a Certificate of Completion, the structure may need to be dismantled so that the proper inspections can be performed.
