The weather forecast for the City of Fort Pierce remains consistent, with sustained winds of 20-30 mph and gusts reaching 40-50 mph, expected to taper off around midnight. Rainfall is anticipated between 2-4 inches, with locally higher amounts possible in isolated areas. The likelihood of tropical storm-force winds has increased to 40-50%. A Tornado Watch is in effect until 8:00 PM, and a Flood Watch remains active until 8:00 AM on Friday.

Potential Impacts for the City of Fort Pierce:

  • Primary Hazards: Heavy rain and strong winds in fast-moving squalls.
  • Rainfall: 2 to 4 inches of rain, potentially causing localized flooding.
  • Winds: Sustained winds of 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 40-50 mph.
  • Coastal Conditions: Hazardous marine and surf conditions lasting through Friday morning.

Solid Waste Collection:

The Solid Waste Division will maintain its regular schedule. Residents are encouraged to refrain from placing additional debris at the curb, as it may block stormwater drainage.

Streets and Drainage:

The Streets and Drainage Division continues to monitor stormwater systems to ensure full capacity during and after the storm.

St. Lucie County Public Schools will resume regular operations on Friday, September 27, 2024.

City Facilities:

City Hall and all City of Fort Pierce facilities will resume regular operations on Friday, September 27, 2024.
