The City of Fort Pierce is proud to join cities across the state in celebrating Florida City Government Week from October 21 to October 27, 2024. Sponsored by the Florida League of Cities, this annual event highlights the vital role local government plays in shaping the daily lives of citizens and enhancing the community.
“The City of Fort Pierce is excited to celebrate City Government Week with a series of activities that reflect both our present and our past,” said Mayor Linda Hudson. “From our commission meetings focused on moving Fort Pierce forward to historic ghost walks commemorating our pioneers, and our volunteer efforts with the Treasure Coast Food Bank, this week is about showcasing how local government works for the people. No two weeks are alike, but our City of Fort Pierce Commission and Staff serve 52 weeks a year to make Fort Pierce a better place for citizens of all ages. We welcome everyone to visit and explore what Fort Pierce has to offer.”
Throughout the week, the City has planned various activities for residents of all ages to participate in, including:
- Proclamation by the Fort Pierce City Commission (October 21, 2024): Florida City Government Week will officially begin with a proclamation by the City Commission during its regular meeting.
- #LoveTheFort Selfie Day (October 22, 2024): Residents are encouraged to show their love for Fort Pierce by snapping a selfie at any City landmark and sharing it on social media with #LoveTheFort and #OneFortPierce. Between 1 PM and 3 PM, participants can take a selfie with Mayor Linda Hudson in front of City Hall (100 N US Highway 1).
- Ghost Walk of Historic Fort Pierce (October 23 & 24, 2024): In collaboration with Main Street Fort Pierce, the annual Ghost Walk will take visitors on a journey through the city’s rich history and explore the lives of early pioneers. Join Mayor Hudson for this fun and educational evening.
- Treasure Coast Food Bank "Pack the House" Event (October 25 & 26, 2024): On October 25, City staff will volunteer at the Treasure Coast Food Bank to help pack 15,000 holiday meal boxes for families in need. The two-day event starts at 8 AM and welcomes volunteers from across the region to make a difference.
- Trick or Treat on 2nd Street (October 31, 2024): Families are invited to Downtown Fort Pierce for this annual Halloween celebration. With trick-or-treating and more, it’s a safe and festive way to enjoy the spooky season.
