City of Fort Pierce Launches Home Purchase Assistance Program

FORT PIERCE, FL – The City of Fort Pierce is excited to announce the launch of its Home Purchase Assistance Program, which aims to provide financial support to income-eligible individuals and families seeking to achieve the dream of homeownership. The program, administered by the Grants Administration Division, will begin accepting applications on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 8:00 AM and continue through Friday, April 4, 2025, or until funds are fully allocated.

This initiative is supported by $150,000 in State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) funds for Fiscal Year 2024-2025, allocated to assist with down payment and closing costs for homes located within the city limits of Fort Pierce. The program offers a zero-interest, deferred second mortgage to qualifying applicants.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for assistance, applicants must:

• Complete a pre-purchase home buyer education program.
• Attend a mandatory orientation conducted by the Grants Administration Division.
• Secure a first mortgage from a lending institution.

Mandatory Orientation Sessions

All applicants are required to attend a virtual or in-person mandatory orientation prior to submitting their application. The City will host two sessions:

• In-Person Orientation: Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at River Walk Center, 600 N Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34950.
• Virtual Orientation: Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Attendance at one of these sessions is mandatory, and proof of participation must be provided with the application.

Application Process

Applications will be processed on a first submitted, first qualified, first eligible basis, subject to funding availability.
